Commanderie du Saulte
Bouchon Champenois

Created in Troyes in February 1975, the Commandery is the heir of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and his Cistercian monks who grew grapes and made wine at the beginning of the 12th century.

Its Dignitaries are professionals in the wine world and its Knights, who number more than a thousand, are French and foreign personalities from the world of economy, media, arts and letters, whose mission is to promote the nobility of Champagne wines.

Various meetings are organised every year, especially in the historical sites of the Côte des Bar (Bar-sur-Seine, Bar-sur-Aube, Troyes, etc.). to mark the occasion, the Dignitaries wear cloaks and toques in the colours of the Champagne region. They are assisted in their task by hoe carriers and trumpeters who punctuate the various phases of the ceremony.
