The other lakes of Champagne-Ardenne

In addition to Lac du Der and the lakes of the Forêt d'Orient, the region has numerous bodies of water suitable for relaxing walks or boating activities.

Lake Vieilles Forges (Ardennes)

Between the ridges of the Ardennes and the meanders of the Meuse, Lake Vieilles Forges looks just like a Canadian lake. Lined by forests and grassland fields, surrounded by hills, it is a place where nature reigns supreme. A reservoir created to provide for the electricity needs of the region, it has a surface area of more than 140 hectares.

A paradise for hikers and fishermen: carp, roach, bream, zander, pike, perch all await willing anglers. The tour of the lake is a beautiful 11.6 km walk. While preserving this wilderness, the Département Council of Ardennes has developed a remarkable leisure facility on the lake's banks: water sports, an area of 1,000 square metres for concerts, shows and sporting events.

A genuine sandy beach allows lifeguarded swimming from 15 June to 15 September.

The four lakes of Langres (Haute-Marne)

A hundred years ago, the landscape of the Pays de Langres welcomed 4 new reservoir lakes designed to supply the Marne to Saône Canal. Sites for relaxation, walking and water sports, these 4 gems are an integral part of any stay in the Pays de Langres.

  • Lake Liez (290 ha)
  • Lake Charmes (197 ha)
  • Lake Vingeanne (199 ha)
  • Lake La Mouche (94 ha)

Numerous activities are on offer: Sailing, water sports, fishing... Hiking routes take you around lakes Liez, Vingeanne and Mouche. The beaches are managed and swimming is supervised in July and August on lakes Liez, Vingeanne and Charme.
