The contest
Commissioned by the Champagne-Ardenne Regional Council, the Regional Tourist Board organises and finances the regional Towns and Villages in Bloom contest.
Over the last few years, this contest has been the source of keen interest from the towns and villages of Champagne Ardennes.
The competition is free and open to all municipalities and aims to reward actions undertaken by local authorities for beautification by means of floral displays (parks, gardens, buildings, public or private) and the creation of an environment which is welcoming, both for residents and tourists. The contest involves assigning a series of Flowers, from one to four, corresponding to the national "Towns and Villages in Bloom" label. Municipalities participating in the competition can have their current ranking maintained or be promoted or demoted.
Registrations for the contest are made with the departmental organisation in charge of registering towns and villages and of organising the departmental contest, at the end of which a shortlist will be sent on to the region for the award of the first flower.
