Baconnes (Marne)
4-flower Village in Bloom
A charming little village between Reims and Châlons-en-Champagne, in the heart of chalky Champagne.
The traditional and spectacular floral displays are the result of the enthusiasm and volunteerism of the 280 inhabitants. The destruction of former agricultural barns has given way over time to vast lawns and wooded areas where flower beds are beautifully at home.
Most of the properties do not have any fences. The houses seem as if they are built in a large garden where the plants can reign supreme. It must be said that this rather rare feature demonstrates the openness of the inhabitants and their sense of hospitality.
The arrangement of the village in a circle makes it ideal for a gentle stroll. You can also enjoy the ramparts that once surrounded the village.
After the walk, you can enjoy a pancake at the crêperie on the village square. Managed by the village's associations, it is open every weekend during the summer.
