Semide
Population: 250 inhabitants
46 km north-east of Reims
In Semide, a small village in the south of Ardennes, a majority of the inhabitants participate actively in beautifying the village by their floral displays on their houses and in their gardens.
The "Fleurir Semide" Association maintains and plants the communal village areas. When reworking the roadsides in the village, some thirty years ago, the village council at the time refused to tarmac the pavements, preferring pavements with the lawns on them and ensuring that trees were planted along the streets, a policy which has reinforced the verdant nature of the village.
