Charles De Gaulle
"... this homeland of Champagne is imbued with calm: vast, rough and sad horizons; melancholy woods, meadows, crops and wastelands; old mountains worn down and resigned to their fate; quiet villages of little wealth, where the passing millennia have changed neither the soul nor the place" wrote Charles de Gaulle in his memoirs.
Today, you can visit La Boisserie, the family home where General de Gaulle came to settle in 1946. You can visit the grand drawing room where many souvenirs are kept, as well as the large library and hexagonal office where the General spent many hours.
In 2008, the Charles de Gaulle Memorial opened its doors. This museum and memorial provides a new insight into the life and work of the General. His career is explored on the basis the great events that marked the 20th century. The museum uses the latest technologies to make the visit interactive and provides interpretation at a number of different levels.
