Charleville-Mézières
Mézières the stronghold, Charleville the new city.
From the fortifications of Mézières, you can still see the King's Tower, Milart Tower, Burgundy Gate and a large section of the ramparts. Founded in 1606 by Charles de Gonzague, Charleville is a fine example of urban planning from the beginning of the 17th century.
The Old Mill is home to the Rimbaud Museum. It is also the starting point for boat trips on the Meuse. You can also see: Saint Laurent animal park, the beautiful Ardennes Museum devoted mainly to Ardennes heritage and the Grand Puppeteer clock on the facade of the Puppet Institute.
