The Renaissance city

Lined by the Marne river, which bathes the quay of Peceaux, the city leans on the hill of the former castle. We can reach the top where we benefit from a magnificent point of view on the city which kept the picturesque character of the medieval cities with its narrow and winding streets, its old houses. It is in the historic house of the «Auditoire», the former court of justice, that you will discover the rich history of the Lords of Joinville. The «Grand Jardin» castle, created in 16th century by Claude de Lorraine, the Ist duke de Guise, is surrounded by a magnificent Renaissance garden. The «Apothicairerie» has a collection of more than 230 jars and utensils of the pharmacy of the Hospital Sainte-Croix built in the 16th century.
