  • This exhibition presents the history of these writers from all over France, who "discovered" our region during the war. A nice way to celebrate the centenary 14-18.

This exhibition presents the history of these writers from all over France, who "discovered" our region during the war. Some fell in the trenches of Champagne, others survived. The exhibits come from the municipal library of Reims, private collections and cultural institutions correspondence, original manuscripts of writers, war diaries of hairy or civilians Reims, first editions, articles and graphic materials (postcards, photographs, maps, posters, prints, watercolors), and various unusual objects including crafts trench.
On this occasion, the City of Reims launched a subscription to support the acquisition of a unique manuscript of Georges Bataille (major thinker and writer of the twentieth century). This manuscript suggests in a hallucinated way the destruction of the Cathedral of Reims. This is the famous Blue Book, considered lost, where Georges Bataille had recorded his first writings, especially this moving text on the martyrdom of the Cathedral of Reims, written in 1916 and entitled The Mystery of the spectrum of the Cathedral of Reims . This text, capital, is entirely new and hitherto completely unknown. It will be a centerpiece of the exhibition.
