Abbey church - Montier-en-Der
The name of the town is derived from the Benedictine abbey founded in the 7th century by Saint Berchaire in the Der forest.
The ”Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul” abbey church was consecrated in 998 with the chancel being rebuilt at the beginning of the 13th century. The nave and the aisle are a rare example of the evolution in architectural style between the Carolingian and Roman period.
