This natural height the natural form of which looks like a left hand is located at the extreme East of the front of Champagne, at the junction of the front of the Argonne.
On their retreat in September 1914, the Germans were entrenched on this natural fortress. The "fingers" are separated by deep indentations that the fighters called ravines.
The highest point, known at that time by the Germans Mont Têtu, was finally taken during the counter-offensive in 1918.You can walk on the Hand and distinguish its "fingers".An impressive network of trenches there was restored in its original state.

The Hand is reachable with RD 566, then take on the right a small byroad.
To see the Hand, take the road to the calvary near the entrance of the village and climb on top of the promontory.
