  • The monument to the dead of Reims was built during the reconstruction of the city, 60 % of which were destroyed during World War I, in memory of the 4 567 died soldiers and 740 died civilians from Reims.

    The monument to the dead of Reims was built during the reconstruction of the city, 60 % of which were destroyed during World War I, in memory of the 4 567 soldiers and 740 civilians from Reims who died during this conflict.
    This monument inspired by the great monuments of antiquity is due to the architect Henri Royer and the sculptor Paul Lefebvre. It was inaugurated on 1 June 1930 by André Maginot, minister of War, in the presence of Marshal Pétain.
