at Reynel

  • The Château de Reynel: Located on a steep rocky
spur between Chaumont and Neufchâteau, during
the Middle Ages Reynel was a defensive outpost
facing the Holy Roman Empire, and later Lorraine.

It includes a long main building comprising
dwellings, with two eastward facing rectangular
buildings situated at an angle alongside the
building on the same side as the main courtyard.
The chapel is housed in one of these lodges.

To the south, at the corner formed by the main
dwelling and the lodge, an attractive terrace has
been created on the site of the keep, offering an
excellent review across the narrow valley featuring a
lake ideally situated between the wooded slopes.
