The Renaissance city

Bordering the Marne river, which bathes the quai des Peceaux, the city lies beneath the hill of the former castle. From the top there is a magnificent view on the city with its narrow and winding streets and old houses. It is in the historic house of the «Auditoire», the former court of justice, that you will discover the rich history of the Lords of Joinville. The «Grand Jardin», 16th century castle built by Claude de Lorraine, the Ist Duke of Guise, is surrounded by a magnificent Renaissance garden. The «Apothicairerie» has a collection of more than 230 jars and utensils of the pharmacy of the Hospital Sainte-Croix built in the 16th century.
