As of 09 July, the MOPO reopens its doors and changes its schedule.

The Maison de l'Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière is pleased to announce its reopening as from
Thursday 09 July 2020 at 09:00 am.

We are keen to welcome our visitors in the best possible conditions and in the respect of the
sanitary rules. Wearing a mask is therefore compulsory and groups are limited to a maximum of 15 people.

New opening hours come into force: the Maison de l'Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière now welcomes you every day from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm.

However, the resource centre remains closed for the moment.

In order to be able to enjoy the exhibition Les Travailleuses de l'aiguille, it has been extended until 23 December 2020.
  • The Maison de l'Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière presents a unique collection of 12,000 handcrafted tools from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, staged in a prodigious way in 65 display cases.

It also houses a library and a specialized bookshop.

The imposing windows are mainly built around the trades, the museum being divided into 4 families: wood, iron, animal and mineral. The tools have been carefully chosen to become witnesses to a life of man, control and culture.

    New room: Ironwork Room
As a continuation of the tour of the House, we invite you to (re)discover the metals and their trades thanks to the renewal of the museography of the room known as the "iron trades" room.
It is by isolating the senses that this new playful space offers the visitor an original visiting experience to immerse himself in the material.
