Installed in the low-ceilinged rooms of the Palace of the Counts of Champagne, the museum's collections combine fine arts and local history.
The archaeology romm displays discoveries made in Haute-Marne.
The museum also celebrates Edme Bouchardon, one of the most gifted sculptors of the reign of Louis XV, born in Chaumont.
The collection of paintings is impressively large (Paul de Vos, Bartolomeo Bettera, Louis II et Bon Boullogne, Luca Ferrari, François-alexandre Pernit ...).
There is also a section dedicated to gloves, the main industry in Chaumontfor more than a century.
